The Bright White 03.19.11
@ Fontana's NYC The Bright White and its lead singer Matthew Kayser help to disprove two prominent modern day theories in music - that new bands can't strike out on the open road any more and that you can't simultaneously be a nice guy and rock leather on stage. Seriously though, coming from Chicago to NYC without the benefit of a Smith Westerns level of hype is risky to say the least and respect to them for taking the chance by the balls to generate their own. Having laid the groundwork searing crowds with their arena-ready songs and stage show, mass appeal isn't too far off. Their sound is everything you'd want in your favorite band du jour - snapping guitars, crackling lyrics, and popping rhythm. I've seen Foo Fighters and The Killers references, but for me in sound and style, Catherine Wheel is a more apt likeness. By the way, how cool would it be for one of their next tours to be a co-headlining gig with The Darkness? thebrightwhite.com |
