Tenements 04.16.11
@ Fontana's NYC

THE ABSOLUTE BEST thing that happens in this business is when a band can make you literally say "Who the fuck is that and where the fuck did they come from?"  In only the best way that phrase can be taken.  So it was at 10pm on a Saturday night that our unsuspecting rain-soaked Fontana's crowd was made aware of the existence of a band called Tenements that would proceed to make the overwhelming majority of us forget we were cynical, jaded, drunk, and high and remember back to simpler times like that summer day we first heard Band of Horses or that college Spring when Come and Sunny Day Real Estate made up the Soundtrack of your raw and unformed life.  One song after another in their set - all obviously new to us - still somehow managed to top each other, burrowing into that part of the brain where songs and memories live together and in there creating an instant karma that's the true embodiment of the Maxell Blown Away Guy.  Listen for yourself -  their album Greenling is streaming here then catch them this year at a small club while you still can.
