The Morning After Girls 03.24.05
@ Pianos NYC Without a doubt, the best damn band from OZ or anywhere for that matter to hit NYC in 2005 (yes, Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs included) - ladies and gentlemen, I very proudly present The Morning After Girls - my new second favorite and quite possibly your new most favorite band. The anticipation for TMAG's arrival in NYC had been building since last summer when Megan, waitress supreme at Pianos, alerted me to their existence, but with due to a lack of a cd and procrastination (i.e., forgetfulness) to google them, I had been until fairly recently been under the impression that they were one of those ironic nancy boy bands solely based on their name. Fast forward to present I am know in full knowledge that their name is indeed the greatest form of cooler than thou irony - a perfect representation for a band that takes the wall of sound built by Brown, Ashcroft, and Gallagher and run with it all the way to some other stratosphere of guitar and tambourine fueled sonic bliss. And speaking of tambourines - uh, Aimee - thanks for making this show and the ensuing after-party the best damn Thursday I've had since Seinfeld was still on. themorningaftergirls.com |
