Lindbergh Palace 06.30.11 @ Mercury Lounge NYC I have to admit that any band that names itself with a Wes Anderson reference is going to have me in the front row taking pictures at some point in their existence. BUT when said band has as its lead chanteuse the world's greatest and my favorite singing comic book artist, Leah Hayes, well then you don't have to ask me twice. Musically, the wonderfully named and fronted Lindbergh Palace sounds like Scary Mansion lyrics dubbed over Postal Service beats by the ghost of Serge Gainsbourg. Anyone who'd ever seen her as Scary Mansion or playing in La Laque would be hard pressed to imagine but nonetheless wholly stunned and impressed to see Leah whirling and twirling with such joy and aplomb. I for one can't wait to see how the band develops it's stage show and what the videos to these great songs will look like. You gotta love it when taste, talent, aesthetics, and cultural references come together so damn well. Lindbergh Palace's Facebook |
