The Head Set 05.13.11 @ Fontana's NYC As I mused when I saw them in March, The Head Set have been one of the more underrated and underheralded NYC bands of the aughts. With the release of a new and great record, hope sprung eternal that this was the start of a second act in which they tour he world, achieve mass appeal, and get their songs on Jackass and Ashton Kutcher movies. Whether or not this all comes to pass is still to be decided. If this show was indeed a swan song of sorts, it was not only amazing and an honor for them to play my little club, but with such an outpouring of warmth and appreciation from the tightly packed crowd of friends and fans that one can't help but wonder 'what if?' they kept going. Ending with the classic 'Maybelline', the first song they ever played together was a particularly classy and fitting culmination to a pretty damn special night. theheadset.com |
