Dean and Britta play Galaxie 500 06.17.11 @ The Bell House Brooklyn Certain bands - Mazzy Star, Slayer, Digable Planets, The Raveonettes - are so essentially epitomizing of their genres that hearing just the first notes of their songs can transcend whatever mood you're in and take you back to when and where you fell in love with them (if of course, you're a fan in the first place). At the top of this dubious list for me is Galaxie 500, whose tome and tone are so uniquely lovely and consistent that playing their catalog on shuffle would be the perfect soundtrack for taking a 24 hour E if such an amazing thing did exist.
