Clap Your Hands Say Yeah 01.23.05 @ Pianos NYC Being around and afoot during a band's meteoric developmental stage is one of my late in my twenties discovered raison d'êtres - a flame that was rekindled with aplomb with my meeting and subsequent three-week residency musical love affair with NYC's buzziest band of the moment, the fiercely enigmatic and wondrous lads of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (don't make the oft cardinal sin of interjecting an "and" somewhere in there. One of these photos has since been used in Time Out New York and various other publications and I'm as giddy as a school girl to have been of help during their incubative pre-signing salad days. The praise and otherwise have been coming fast and furious from all directions, a sign that apathy will certainly not be one of their followers. Musically, they are as sonically lush and tone perfect as a band four albums into their careers without having yet released their first. That being said, part of their charm is thin taking their art - but just under the surface there lies in each of them a carnivale-esque color palette that imbues their songs with a whimsical circus-like feel - that feeling we attempted to capture and corral here. clapyourhandssayyeah.com |
