The Caulfield Sisters 11.03.03
@ Mercury Lounge NYC

So what's more to say about The Caulfield Sisters' gorgeous enchanting driving lullabies except that someone somewhere is going to sign them soon so they can take their rightful place at the head of the table of the new shoegazer revolution.

But wait, hold on a sec, with recent addition of drummer extraordinaire Kristin, the one new song included in this set stood out like Brendan Sexton III at a VICIOUS party (sorry, you just had to be there). The song I'm referring to is this sludgy dirty number that can only be a hint of darker things to come? I'm bad with lyrics so I have no idea what it was about - though I'm pretty sure I have an idea, have to ask Cindy next time - but all I do know is that it prodded the generally appreciative and well-behaved celebrity-filled Monday night crowd into fits of tow-tapping and head-nodding that pushed the night's proceedings into rollicking territory.

Said song was so raucous in fact that it caused a leak in the Mercury Lounge ceiling, which apparently was ill-prepared for the sonic assault about to beset it. Ands all of this before the climactic accordion feedback extravaganza which has become the signature ending for one of the most captivating shows you'll find in the City.
