@ Loews Theater Jersey City The setting: majestic. The sound: sublime: The performers: god-like. And before this night of acoustic solo and collaborative performances by Conor Oberst aka Bright Eyes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and M Ward, I have to admit that I approached their careers to date with attitudes ranging from healthy respect to indifference, but goddamn did they kick the living tar out of my arse and wax from by brain. Held in the indescribably gorgeous heaven on earth in state of renovation Loews Jersey theatre, their three hour Springsteen-esque set was played without a break and with each of the principals taking turns supporting the others and ended fittingly enough with rousing renditions of Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan covers - modern day legends paying tribute to living ones. conoroberst.com |
